Kate Hammerich, Co-founder

Kate HammerichKate was born and now lives in the middle of cornfields, just shy of Chicago. She got her BA in English at the University of Illinois with a minor in Sociology and emerged with a deep love of writing and the knowledge she would be a poet – no matter what.

Kate followed her gypsy blood and saw the entire continental USA. She settled briefly in North Carolina and baked organic bread in the early mornings and wrote poetry in every spare moment with her Husky-Wolf puppy, Picasso, curled on her feet.

She published her first book, escape artist, shortly before she moved back to her hometown to raise her own daughter. She has since published two more books – hallucinations, cancer & the purple tree and a collaboration with a fellow poet, Delaney Young KateKeaten – As We Are Now, But Never Again. Her next book, Inheritance, will be published by Unbound Content in 2014.

Over the years she has had poems published in The Susquehanna Review, ditch, Third Wednesday, Barrier Island Review, Verandah Literary Journal, Grasslimb, Kill Poet, MiPoesias, The Junk Lot Review, Gr@wl!x, The Legendary, The Missing Slate, Existere, vox poetica and the 2012 UnFolded Garden Show.

Kate loves reading poetry as much as she loves writing it so she dove into the opportunity to create cahoodaloodaling and expand the publishing world.
